A wedding caterer pulls out two weeks before wedding after being accused by the bride-to-be for flirting with her husband!
Many soon-to-be newlyweds book their wedding vendors well in advance to avoid last-minute stress. Typically, this gives couples the chance to secure top industry professionals. However, just two weeks before the big day, an engaged couple faced a crisis when their wedding caterer withdrew from the event.
Accusations Lead to Caterer’s Withdrawal
On September 15, 2024, the incident was posted on Reddit’s “Am I the A——” board by the caterer herself. She revealed that her decision to cancel was prompted by unfair accusations from the bride-to-be. The caterer had been in contact with the couple primarily via email after they booked her services. When it came time to meet in person, things changed. According to the Reddit post, two in-person meetings took place: one with the couple and their planner, and a second with just the bride and groom.
Bride Accuses Caterer of Flirting
During the second meeting, the bride accused the caterer of flirting with her fiancé. The situation escalated when the bride threatened to leave a negative review. The bride reportedly lost her temper, saying, “You’re being far too flirty with my fiancé. Stop it now! We’re about to get married. How would you like this in your reviews?”
Caterer Withdraws After Further Insults
Shocked by the accusation, the caterer explained that, in her experience, brides often make most of the wedding decisions. Consequently, she had been communicating mostly with the bride and rarely with the groom. The only interaction the groom had was complimenting the menu, which the caterer deemed a harmless comment.
However, when the groom attempted to reason with his fiancée, she became even more upset. She insulted both the caterer and her fiancé, calling the caterer a “pathetic cow” and suggesting she “find her own man.” At this point, the caterer decided to withdraw her services and returned the couple’s deposit.
Bride’s Anger and Reddit’s Response
The bride, unhappy with the decision, bombarded the caterer with emails and messages, frustrated about finding new catering services at such short notice. Despite this, the caterer stood firm, stating she would rather compensate her staff for the cancellation than work under such circumstances.
The Reddit community overwhelmingly supported the caterer’s decision. One user noted, “She practically blacked you with an unfair review…over being too kind.” Another Redditor commented, “This is likely her first tantrum of many.”
Insecurity Speculations
Many speculated that the bride’s behaviour stemmed from insecurities rather than the caterer’s actions. Some users questioned whether the bride had made similar accusations in the past. Others predicted that this wedding might not last long, if it happens at all.
